Moral Philosophy (1)
Lecturer: Ammar Fauzi Heryadi. Phd 6-10 August 2023 8.30-10.00 PM In Aristotle's view, logic helps us think correctly. Philosophers also crafted logic for everyday life, teaching us how to live happily and wholly. Both Aristotle and many classic Muslim philosophers believed in a balance between extremes. For Socrates, practical methods in life were essential, often more so than theoretical ones. In essence, while we search for truth in theories, in practice, we seek goodness. Key questions arise: What truly makes us happy? Why live if we're destined to die? Is self-sacrifice logical? Is harming others always wrong? Is our life more human or animalistic? How do we decide what's right or wrong? Can suffering sometimes be a form of happiness? Does wanting eternal life make sense when death is inevitable? These fundamental questions shape our lives. Through the lens of Practical Philosophy, we're challenged to find deep answers, ensuring a life well-lived. Class references include works from renowned scholars like M.T. Misbah Yazdi, Ibnu Sina, Yoval Noah Harari, Friedrich Nietzsche, and Imam Ghazali.

Logic (1)
Every human, within themselves, has an inherent desire to know."This philosophical statement by Aristotle can be fully realized by everyone and is even more easily understood by people in today's world. The abundance of data and the wild transmission of information, amplified by the sophistication of technology and communication media, not only satisfies this curiosity but also poses serious challenges and threats. Just as oxygen is to the lungs, information is food for the mind. Hoaxes and tainted information can poison the mind and deaden the spirit, even while the body remains alive. Logic is an effective tool to safeguard the mind's health from data and information pollution. With logic, mental precision is developed to discover the truth, and intellectual resilience is built against deceitful practices and views. As a preliminary step, the Center opens an Introductory Logic class, offering beginners an introduction to subsequent logic debates and studies, guided by a mix of references from Logic books such as Manthiq al-Syifa' by Ibnu Sina, Al-Qisthas al-Mustaqim by Imam Ghazali, Asas al-Iqtibas by Nashiruddin Thusi, Manthiq al-Mandzumah by Hadi Sabzawari, Al-Sulam al-Munawraq, and Abdurrahman al-Akhdhari. Armed with five sessions guided by experts in Philosophy and Sufism, the importance of Mantiq or logic can be felt - its function, instructiveness, and effectiveness in the pursuit of truth

Tafsir and Ta’wil of Al-Quran (1)
